Deep in Detroit

Delta Air Lines and Seattle Seahawks: 12status For The Win!

Delta Air Lines sent me to Detroit a few weeks back to experience a fantastic Seahawks game versus the wiley Detroit Lions (and their fan base) with a seamless experience with their 12status program. Launched during the 2016 season, 12status rewards Seahawks fans for the team’s performance on the field with miles through the Delta SkyMiles program and other perks.

12status members get one mile for every Seahawks passing yard during the regular season and postseason. Members also get priority Delta boarding at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport during the 2018 season… and it’s free!

I was able to take complete advantage of this on the several-hour flight– who doesn’t love being able to board before everyone else? And even though this was my first time in Detroit, I’ve flown out of Seattle many times and I’m so glad there’s so many direct flights flying out of Sea-Tac. Delta is Seattle’s largest global airline and continues its growth with a 10 percent increase in peak-day seats at its Seattle hub for summer 2018, driven by the addition of three new domestic destinations – Indianapolis, Kansas City and Washington-Dulles – as well as more flights and larger aircraft operating between existing routes.

“The most passionate fans in the league deserve to be recognized and rewarded, and as the Official Airline of the Seahawks, we’re thrilled to bring back 12status for a third season to do just that,” Delta Seattle Vice President Tony Gonchar said in a news release.

Miles awarded can be redeemed for travel across Atlanta-based Delta’s growing national and international network from Seattle… and I’ve heard that the most frequent destination Seahawks fans have picked as they used their miles is Los Angeles. (Unfortunately for Seahawks fans in other states, 12status membership is restricted to Washington state residents.)
